>> He devised a robot that eventually won him the prize.

>> She invented a story to go to the party.

>> OR: She invented a story for the party.

2. Over my dead body
- Was he promoted as my boss? It can be true over my dead body.
>> Was he promoted to be my boss? Over my dead body!

>> OR: He will only be my boss over my dead body.

3. As of (A question on its exact meaning)
- It is valid as of June 2015.
: Does it mean it is valid \'from\' June 2015?

- The sales data is as of March.
: Does it mean the sales data is \'until\' March?

>> as of/from - starting from a particular time or date:

>> For example: As of next month, all the airline\'s fares will be going up.

>> So the \"as of\" in your examples \"It is valid as of June 2015\" and \"The sales data as of March.\" are used and meant the same way. The validity of the subject is effective on that said date.

>> You might confuse \"as of\" with \"currently\". Their usage might sound alike but there is a difference where;

>> as of now = it wasn\'t true until very recently, but from now on it is/will be true

>> currently = it won\'t be true in the [near] future AND (possibly) wasn\'t true at some point in the past
