Even if your don\'t know the answer, you can still make a guess and that it will be explained to you afterwards. :) Anyways, the words a lot of, much and many are used for count and noncount nouns. Count nouns are words that we can normally count. For example: bananas, boats and bottles. For non-count nouns, they are actually refer to things that by their nature are not easily countable. Often they are things in liquid or mass form or abstract ideas. For example: san, beauty and electricity.

So for the word much, it is used to identify non-count nouns and the word many is used for count nouns. As for a lot of, it is used with non-count nouns and plural count nouns.
