a second thought

When someone hands you your change, do you count it and make sure it's the right amount or do you put it away and not give it a second thought? I usually count it whether it is the right amount or not. I think it is important to make sure the amount in front of the cashers. It makes counting clear, and I won't be confused later. Every time a second thought is necessary.
