There was a superstition related to the day in Korean female tradition. When I was young, I happen to see that my mom cooking "patjuk"put a rice ball on the mouth of the fire hole in the traditional korean kitchen. She wanted to know what feature the rice ball would tell. Korean women believed that the shape would tell the in fetus’ gender. Mom anxiously waited for what feature would appear on the rice ball. she shouted "it's boy!” later, Mom gave birth to the third son that year. If the rice ball pop straight up shortly after it boiled on the mouth of fire hole, it will be a boy, and if it turned flat after done that way, it is a girl. korean women believed there was a god for women in the kitchen. the features seemed to symbolize the gender.
