Are bad people bad because of circumstances or choices? What about good people?

Circumstances can have influence on people’s character in some degree. It is unlikely that someone who was raised under bad parenting in an unhappy family grew up as a good person and vice versa. However, it is only an extreme case. Most people, grown up in ordinary families, choose what to do. who to be. You can be a good person or a bad person with your own will. Even there are some people who had deprived childhoods, and yet being respected from others with their good works. For example, a former South Korean president, Kim Dae-jung was from a farmer family. He had a brush with death several times and was sentenced to death while joining the pro-democracy movement. With all these painful experiences, he never stopped advocating human rights and giving humanitarian aid to North Korea after he became president, which got him to win the Novel Peace Price.
