I think short term goals are more motivating than long-term goal. When we build a goal, we usually set the due-date. The short-term goal stands for we don\'t have much time to achieve it. Therefore, we need to plan how to achieve and this plan should be tight and very detailed. And these plans make us more urgent and make us to do something.
Actually, a long-term goal is consist of several short-term goals. Because long-term goal usually hard to achieve at once. So, we should set several short-term goal for long-term goal and be motivated.
