Blackbiting

The word that you wanted to check, is it "BLACKBITING" or "BACKBITING"? Honestly speaking, I haven't encountered the word "blackbiting" before.  Like what you did, I tried to check it using the dictionary and searched the internet, and the results state that the word "blackbiting" is related to bugs which make black holes into the walls. 

But, basing it with your sample sentence Ms. [Name], I think you meant "BACKBITING". Backbiting means to speak unfavorably or slanderously of a person who is not present or attacking the character or reputation of a person in his absence. Another term for this is "backstabbing". I think people who do this are cowards because they don't have the courage to confront the person. Instead they make up bad, false details to attack that person.
