Cancel culture is a form of bullying. Many people argue that this culture is freedom of speech that enables people to share their opinion regarding social matters. It is freedom of speech when the opinion is clearly verified beforehand. Also, there should be exchange of pros and cons in conversation not collectively leaned to negative perspective. Also, cancel culture is about openly expressing negative opinion without full verification. According to Oxford Dictionary, cyberbullying includes sending, posting or sharing negative and false content. This definition corresponds to what I can see social media as cancel culture. Recently, the previous announcer Jang Sung Ku was accused of being engaged in weather forecaster suicide. Without verifying the information, many people wrote the hate comment on his Instagram and some comments insulted his 7 years old son. As clearly shown in this example, cancel culture is bullying without verification and fair exchange of opinion.
