In my perspective certain level of expectation is required to accomplish a goal. Expectation will motivate people to achieve goal. Especially adolescents are easily motivated by how parents and peers expect them to be. For me, I translate others’ expectations as how I should be and set a goal based. However, too much expectation can often be perceived as burdensome, so I found various cases where many people feel onerous and drained. And I believe this is the problem of Korean society. Parents expect their child to be perfect to enter good universities and get descent jobs. Alongside this, teachers expect their students to score good grades on exams. Accordingly, many students tend to be exposed to highly competitive environment. This environment led young generation to get drained at the point they graduated from universities and give up their job. Even if they manage to get the job they tend to compete with peers when cooperation is highly necessary.
