Why do you think people like to listen to gossip?
I think it’s because gossip is usually an interesting topic to talk about. Most of the time, gossip contains very shocking or surprising news that people didn’t expect. People will be curious about the surprising event that happened to someone unexpected. In my opinion, the biggest reason why people listen to gossip is mainly for fun. But sometimes, people like to listen to gossip because they are envious of the targets. For example, some gossips about celebrities are to be spread poisonously. Some people listen to such gossip because they want such gossip to be real. Because they are envious of the celebrity. However, gossip isn’t a good thing as it hurt someone’s feelings. If gossip doesn’t hurt everybody’s feelings and is just used as an interesting subject for conversation, it’s good. But most time, gossiping ends up with a negative result.
