Dear Teacher! Good evening! I have a question about a word 'apply'. As I know, 'apply' can be used as both an intransitive and a transitive verb. That is why I said in our class that 'This situation can apply to celebrities. However, you corrected it to 'This situation can be applied to celebrities'. I am very confused about this usage. ^^;; Please make me understand it clearly. Have a tight sleep and see you tomorrow! ^^**

Good morning, [이름]!^^

Thank you for asking me about the thing

that confuses  you.

You are correct with the use of apply: Intransitive or Transitive verb.

However, in our sentence, it is not about the verb but it is about the voice of the sentence.

Active voice vs. Passive voice.

This situation = Subject but cannot be the doer of the action/verb \"apply\".

If I am going to translate this into an active voice, the word very \"can apply\" is possible.
Active voice: Someone/Something can apply this situation to celebrities.

Got it?
If it is still confusing, tell me so!^^
