Composition: taxing on the junk food

No, I do not agree with the idea that the government should levy an additional tax on junk food and fatty snacks. A regular taxing will be enough. They should be treated as other normal businesses when it comes to paying taxes. The reason being for the insist of placing an additional tax on such a junk food or fatty snacks seems to be stemmed from the fact that the foods or snacks are harmful to people’s health, which incurs social cost to treat the people. However, we have to respect the choice of freedom and it is up to an individual what to eat. Each person should be conscious about the consequences of the junk food and hold himself/herself accountable for what he/she does. The government role is to educate the people to refrain from having unhealthy foods. If the government has to impose a tax on the junk food, it should also ban selling Tabaco, lottery business, casino, drinking and so on. The government’s role should be limited to ensure fair competition.
