Linguists, Krashen, says lower affective filter and comprehensible input are essential conditions for that. Affective filter means what interrupts learning mentally such as anxiety, concern, discouragement, and lack of motivation, etc.. And comprehensible input means input which is easy to understand. when learners hear too difficult vocabulary, they are likely to give up. That's why input must be resonable and slightly difficult. For example, fewer contractions, longer pauses, high frequency vocabulary, fewer pronoun form, and last but not least, repetition and restatement. By preparing for a graduate school, I've been busy reviewing what I learned in English literature department. All the things I mentioned remind me of you, Chelsea.
