How have you been during last weekend? We usually talk about my stories, right? Why don't you tell me your own story? Speaking of my buddy's wedding, we haven't seen each other since we graduated from the high school. For more than 10 years, we've met several times but it's not more than 10 times except for talking on the phone. Besides him, many friends of mine live apart from my hometown. I also left my hometown many years ago. It's not easy to get in touch with each other frequently. Only a few friends I can meet these days. That's why on special days like wedding ceremony, their children's Dol, which means first birthday in Korean, funeral, and house warming party etc.. we can gather together and we talk about what we haven't talked about. ^^ By the way, another linguistic theory I'm going to tell you. I hope you enjoy it. A linguist, Michael Long, says we cannot learn languages only with bunch of inputs. There must be interactions between speakers and listeners. When we communicate, 'meaning negotiations' continuously happen between them he says. Speakers try to consider listener's language ability. For instance, comprehension check, confirmation check, clarification request, repetition of questions are what he tries to account for. And also 'or-question' is much more preferred than 'wh-question' when listeners are confused.
