Dear [Name]. [Name],
How are you?
Let me start by thanking you for all the help that you\'ve provided me. You\'ve been such a great help, and I can\'t say thank you enough.
Let me explain my current situation briefly. My institution is constructing a new hospital, and my current hospital is supposed to relocate to the new hospital in 2019. For that reason, our hospital head doesn’t want to allow anyone to go on a visiting scholarship for a long period of time. When we go on a visiting scholarship, we receive financial support from the hospital, but under the current situation, it\'s hard to get one.
I thought that next year would be the best time to go on a visiting scholarship for my career. I initially thought that my hospital would allow me to go on a visiting scholarship if I win the grant from the government, unfortunately, it didn\'t work that way. I’m afraid that I might not be able to meet the one-year period that I applied for. I had a talk with the hospital director yesterday and I got his approval, but it\'s only for a period of three months. However, he promised to allow me to go on a visiting scholarship for one whole year after two years.
I hope it\'s not too much to ask, but can you possibly accept me as a visiting scholar for 3 months sometime next year? I can only get the grant from the Korean government in case you accept me. I know this is a difficult request since 3 months is such a short time to do something. I think I can go for another visit for one whole year after my new hospital is stabilized which will hopefully happen within the next 2 to 3 years.
I am really sorry to disappoint you. I completely understand the difficult nature of my request, so whatever decision you make, I will take and respect it.
Best regard,

I know this is a difficult request since 3 months is such a short time to do something. I have a proposal which is to send my own specimen to the laboratory before my arrival then once I get there, I can analyze it using my own fund. Hopefully, I can get everything done before the three month period is finished. I think I can go for another visit for one whole year after my new hospital is stabilized which will hopefully happen within the next 2 to 3 years.
I am really sorry to disappoint you. I completely understand the difficult nature of my request, so whatever decision you make, I will take and respect it.
