Do you think Children’s Day has become too commercialized?
학생이 쓴 원문
Korean holidays have been commercialized due to the gifting culture. Gifting in Korea is a vital social ritual designed to build emotional connection, strengthen relationships, and show respect, and is heavily influenced by reciprocity and etiquette. Therefore, during holidays, it is morally right to buy presents, and many companies introduce products for the occasion. This trend has led Korean holidays to be commercialized, as many people buy gifts even during financial difficulties. For example, Koreans get cake every Christmas, and many companies compete to offer luxurious cakes. On Children’s Day, many parents get gifts or take their children out, so many companies offer products such as hotel coupons combined with entrance tickets to amusement parks. It is not that only Children’s Day has become commercialized. All Korean holidays are commercialized, but Children’s Day is more noticeable because it is one of the long holidays in Korea, combined with Labor Day.
