Do you think companies should offer employees a lifetime employment?

In the past, a life time employment was a sort of the norm and general practice in Japan for a long time. Japanese companies and employees has perceived the lifetime employment as a virtue of Japanese society. And the philosophy has played as a foundation of Japanese economy and development. Employees thanked and were inspired by the policy and paid back to their companies by working hard and being more productive. The model has worked well until recently before Japan was hit the economic recession. Now it changed completely. We can hardly see that private companies or even the government guarantees a life time employment. Who in the world does not want a job security? In the modern economic, one of the most critical issues for an employee is getting a stable job, however we all are put at the risk of losing a job regardless of our wish or will. Cons of the lifetime employment is the increase of youth unemployment, low productivity due to mannerism and weak competition.
