If your dream is becoming instrumental player, it will be good to learn how to play an instrument but, if it is not, I think focusing on your major is more important than learning how to play an instrument. And, I think if learning how to play an instrument is not your own choice, clearly, you will not be able to focus on learning it. If you are a elementary school student, instead of learning it, learn simple concepts like notes. It is much better because you will have to play an instrument in school. If you learn about the notes exactly, clearly, you will be good at playing an instrument in the middle school.
