Despite the growing trend of remote working, I believe office work will be more prevalent. The reason why the remote working will be least common in the future is due to the concern of communications and evaluation system. First, there are communication issues. Despite there are many apps available for video conference, it cannot overcome time difference when it comes to instant communication. Since there are delays in communications, many people still prefer face-to-face communication. Then there are concerns in the employee evaluation system. Even with technological development, many employees still game the system, and many managers have a hard time getting track of their employees’ overall performances. Also, according to the recent study from OECD, regardless of the performance many managers tend to give high evaluation to the employee that they can face frequently. Accordingly, even with the tectological development and employee preference, office work will be more common.
