A language represents power of its country. When I went to high school, Japan was deemed to be a world 2nd largest economic power house. Many people predicted that Japan will be the country that will set a new standard of the world and lead other countries. Because of that, many students chose to learn Japanese. Now the situation has changed a lot and China emerged as the new world power in economics. When the country’s economic power gets stronger, foreign capital will be induced into the country and more jobs will be created. Job seekers will learn its country’s language and be flocking into the market. The US economic power and influence on other countries in the area of culture and entertainment has a little bit deteriorated for the last decade, it still touts as the strongest country in the world. So, English will be the language that will be mostly commonly and widely used for the next a few decades. However, it won’t reach the point where it replaces all the other languages.
