In China and Korea, oriental medicine (so called Chinese herbal medicine) is so popular and there is an official doctorial degree to be a doctor of oriental medicine. The courses that require a student to complete to become an oriental doctor are similar to those of modern medicine. A student has to study in the medical school for six years and goes through internship programs. Oriental medicine is a broad range of medicine practices sharing common concepts which have been developed in China and Korea and are based on a tradition of more than 2,000 years, including various forms of herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage, exercise, and dietary therapy. Although there are some conflicts between oriental medicine and modern medicine and the bulk of these precepts, including the model of the body, or concept of disease, are not supported by science or evidence-based medicine, the oriental medicine community has been attempting to integrate them with modern notions of anatomy and pathology.
