Various media only shed light on the good side of APEC summit recently held in Gyeongju. Many praise that government successfully hosted the summit which enhanced national image and prestige. In my perspective, it is more important to maintain attention brought from international event. Now international audiences are paying attention to Korean market, and this event provided the opportunity to enhance Korean soft power. Additionally, it is essential to develop this event to other business and political opportunities. Since this event provided an opportunity for high-ranking government officials and business professionals to meet and discuss various agendas, I believe there will be more possibilities for investment for domestic market. This is crucial as South Korean market is struggling for stagnated economy. One of the eye-opening moments was that United States finally agreed upon currency swap which is important for South Korea to lower exchange rate as export-oriented economy.
