There were some instances that I made wrong first impressions.
Here are two cases.
One case happened when I had a first meeting with my counterpart.
The atmosphere was heavy so we could not start talking easily.
As an ice break, I made a joke, a black humor about politics.
By the way, that joke drove one member of my counterpart irritating.
The atmosphere became heavier and that meeting ended up without any agreements.
The second case occurred at a restaurant where I and my wife invited my friend and his new girlfriend.
During the dinner, some guys at a neighbor table made a big noise.
So, I retorted to them \"Lower your tone, this is not your house\", which made them angry.
I could ask them more politely or add the magic word \"please\".
But I did not. May be I was under stress at that time.
That resulted in the dinner unpleasant, both our table and that guy\'s.
