In Korea, women use the dried seed of the gardenia to make yellow color. When it was soaked in water for a while, yellow color comes up. Korean women use it for dying fabric or for coat of pancake with thin batter of flour and the colored water. But the leaves of gardenia tempt butterflies, especially monarch flies to lay their eggs on which will hatch and gnaw the leaves until they will grow up enough to make themselves chrysalises.
