Gentrification in Seoul

A few years ago, the city government tried to build up new building at Yongsan, which is the yolk of seoul. The buildings were old but it was fine to live. However, the city wanted to rearrange the city and in my opinion, it was a great project for the rich since they can make much money from investing in the new buildings. People who were living their protested to the city government not to move away. As the protest was getting serious, the company in charge of the new project hired people in order to get them moved. My concern was that they were violent and it made tenants more angry. Tearing down old buidlings are useful as long as it has some safety problems. If they are fine to live and people don't want to move, they don't have to gentrify the city.
