Well, regarding your question, it actually depends on how you construct your sentence.
Take a look at the examples that I will provide you:
\"I have a lot of friends.\"
\"I have many friends.\"
Well, you can use either, as long as you see to it that your words are not rearranged,
so as to make your expression smooth.
Some expressions can be very tricky though.
You need to have a very keen ear so as to be able to know what sounds better.
