Grammatical questions on Monday's article
학생이 쓴 원문
Dear [Name],
Good day to you.I have some questions on grammar.
Following is the part of Timescall article on Monday titled "Renault Samsung dispute deepens over promotion" Please make comments about my suggestion.
1. As a means of protest
--> I think it should be "As a mean of protest"
2. The union is adamant that if there is no progress in this area, no additional wage talks or collective bargaining are possible.
--> I think the meaing of this sentence is vague. If there is no progress in this area, no additional wage talks? I think it shoulde be "If there is no progress in this area, neither additional wage talks nor collective bargining is possible."
3. we are worried that we might fail to meet the timetable
--> I think this sentence is correct, but I cannot understand. Can we say " We are worrying that we might fail to meet the timetable." ? In what siutation do we need to use passive or active?
Thank you and best regards,

Hello [이름]!
Thank you for your questions.
1. \"As a mean of protest\" is correct. Check the definition below:
means (used with a sing. or pl. verb) A method, a course of action, or an instrument by which an act can be accomplished or an end achieved.
2. I agree that the sentence is vague.
Your suggestion is right.
OR: The union is adamant that if there is no progress in this area, no additional wage talks or collective bargaining will be possible.
3. The usual construction in such cases is I’m worried about . . . This is because verbs of perception, emotion and thinking do not typically occur in the progressive form. That is not to say that they never do. It would not be unusual to hear, for example, someone who was a habitual worrier being asked What are you worrying about now? But if English is not your first language, then you are probably on safer ground by avoiding it with such verbs.
Because it is more direct, most writers prefer to use the active voice whenever possible.
The passive voice may be a better choice, however, when
-the doer of the action is unknown, unwanted, or unneeded in the sentence
Example: The ballots have been counted.
-the writer wishes to emphasize the action of the sentence rather than the doer of the action
Example: The suspect was questioned.
-the writer wishes to use passive voice for sentence variety.
