Good morning Lyn! I really appreciate your eagerness in learning English. I hope this explanation will help you. See you later! ~ Teacher Elisha

1. Answer: Sam took a picture of me while i wasn\'t looking.
My answer: Sam took a picture of me while i didn\'t look.
->Why is my answer wrong?

>> In this sentence, the speaker is talking about a continuing action, something that was happening, going on, at some point in the past which is why we will be using the PAST PROGRESSIVE TENSE. This tense is formed with the helping \"to be\" verb, in the past tense, plus the present participle of the verb (with an -ing ending). Did + main verb is used when we are talking about events in the past which are already done or finished.
 2. Answer: How fast were you driving when the accident happened?
My answer: How fast did you drive when the accident happening?
->Why is my answer wrong?

>> The form of the verb here is similar with #1. :) We use the PAST PROGRESSIVE TENSE here as well. ~
 3. Answer: Did you go out last night?
My answer: Were you going out last night?
->Why is my answer wrong?

>> Here, we are talking about something that is already done or finished. Also, we usually use did + main verb when we are asking questions about the past or when we are saying negative statements about the past.
