A popular gossip I\'ve heard lately is that the Japanese government will dump contaminated water into the sea this summer.
This will cause great damage to Korea, a neighboring country, and we are already worried that they cannot even eat seaweed.
Here\'s another piece of my gossip.
Since I have been taking a break from Zumba classes since January, there are various rumors going around among the members, from rumors that I am very sick, to rumors that the couple fights and can\'t work together, and even rumors that they don\'t seem to be living together.
Rumors are so scary.

A gossip is casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true.
Your first example is not considered gossip because it is a national issue. It may be a rumor because many people are already talking about it but there is no real confirmation. While the second example is gossip since they were talking about you without confirming the truth. You can enlighten them on this :)
