Although time travel, particularly into the past, is a common theme in science fiction, what is now known about science indicates that time travel is extremely unlikely, if not impossible. Traveling into the future, even at a slow pace, is a recognized phenomenon in science.
Traveling to an uncertain future would be more interesting, according to some, because we already know what happened in the past. Our life in the present might be improved by future travelers.
