One deal with a Chinese buyer did not ultimately move forward.
The buyer showed strong interest in our product, and the market potential was very attractive. However, during the evaluation process, we found that the regulatory requirements in China were a major barrier. The product would require local clinical data and ingredients approved under Chinese regulations, and based on our assessment, the likelihood of successful registration was quite low.
Rather than pushing the deal forward and creating future risks, I openly shared the regulatory challenges with the buyer and recommended that we stop the project.
This experience taught me that successful international sales is not only about market size or customer interest. Regulatory feasibility is equally important. Since then, I have made it a priority to review country-specific registration requirements and regulatory risks at the early stage of discussions, so that I can propose products with a realistic chance of market entry.

What was your biggest failure? What did you learn from it?
>> I once worked on a promising deal with a Chinese buyer, but it did not move forward due to regulatory barriers. Although there was strong interest and good market potential, we later found that local clinical data and ingredient approvals were required for registration, making success unlikely. I communicated these risks clearly to the buyer and recommended stopping the project. This experience taught me that regulatory feasibility is just as important as market demand in international sales.
