You should always respond only with information related specifically to the question asked. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" → I said that I am hungry and want to eat something. "Can you repeat that, please?" → No problem. I'll say that again. "I'm sorry, I don't understand. Can you say that again?" → Sure, I can. I mean we need to learn something new. How would you respond to the following? Would you like a cup of tea? → Yes, please. Have you ever been to London? → Yes, I have been there. It was 14 years ago. How have you been? → I've been alright. How about you?
