Nowadays we are living in a deluge of advertisements. While walking along the street, we can see a lot of wrapping advertisements on the sides of taxes and buses. It was not usual just ten years ago here. When I was in the US and Canada, I was really annoyed because of so many advertisements on TV. Sometimes the period of advertisements seemed much longer than the main program's. There are dozens of ad-specialized TV channels in Korea. However, there seem to be a lot of positive functions in the advertisements. Advertisements must be indispensable to galvanize domestic businesses. We could not get such useful information like new products to improve our lives without advertisements. Meanwhile, we can be easily exposed to the dysfunctions of advertisements. Reckless advertisements could promote excessive spending and impulse buying, so called a shopping spree. Additionally, the huge amount of advertising costs returns to us when we purchase goods. It is just a double-edged sword.
