Does playing violent games cause children to act violently? Some people agree with the opinion but some people don't. Many study groups take a firm stance against children and teens playing violent video games. They argue that more than 90% of children in the US play video games which titles seem to say it all:"Manhunt" and "Thrill kill." They revealed a significant link between being exposed to violent games and aggressive behavior, aggressive thoughts and angry feelings. However, a few recent studies have showed the very different point of view on the matter. They say that there are some "Cathartic effects" allowing players to safely release their aggression. More over, you keep them off the streets and out of trouble by keeping young males busy with things they like. Tracking both sales and crime rates, a study group discovered that general societal violence decreased in the weeks after the release of popular video games. I think parents should take an active interest in and monitor the games played by their children. This simple bit of practical advice including not an all-out prohibition may be the best solution.

There have been a lot of unfortunate events which stemmed from video games. I remember reading an article about a boy who killed his own mother thinking that she was an alien. Moreover, there was also a teenage who did a killing spree after playing a certain video game. On the other hand, I partially agree that it has some good effect on releasing our stress. Whew!
