Our government has sometimes taken measures to allow the people to enjoy more days off in some stepping-stone holidays so that they can promote domestic demand economically. In other words, ensuring days off ironically could revitalize the economy through promoting consumption. Of course, manufacturing companies would be better off having employees work more days in order to produce more goods. From 1970s to 1990s, Korean baby boomers worked very hard because they had to solve the problem of livelihood, but they came to know the real savor of earning money. The fact that they are able to take care of their family was their pleasure, pride and satisfaction. At that time, they couldn't afford to turn their eyes to taking a rest and enjoying their leisure time. Now that new generations who have been brought up affluently become the leading part of the Korean society, they tend to be into the balanced life which both work and rest are equivalently bothered. When I was in the US and Canada, I witnessed their life in which people can enjoy the evening with their family. Human beings' happiness could be derived from their home and workplace, so a healthy society can't be materialized without happy families and rewarding jobs.
