Good afternoon Kiddo,
Your answer is what I expected from a 10 years old boy. Parents always tell their kids not to talk to strangers for security reason.
Some sociable kids greet people they don\'t know by saying \"hi\" or \"hello\", however they mostly do it when they are with their parents or guardians.
It\'s really a case to case basis. However, I recommend that you should always follow your parent\'s advise since you\'re still a kid.
When you become an adult, maybe you can decide things like this on your own.
