I'm not sure people should reject or unlearn 'many' of their assumptions or ideas but I think we certainly need to give up some of our own ideas. I often find out giving up my own plan or idea is quite hard. It's generally not easy to give up or criticize our own ideas and people generally want to stick to original assumptions and ideas. However we can't be always right and our ideas also can't be always correct. If we intentionally think our ideas and assumptions are acceptable or not, we can prevent making mistakes. We are often trapped in same problem and can't find the way to solve it. I think rejecting or unlearning our previous answers can show how to solve the problem. Because it helps to have a totally new approach. We don't have to doubt every ideas we have but rejecting previous idea is helpful sometimes.
