Learning history and reading classics are not only interesting but also instructive. People can learn from the past because similar things happen repeatedly. For example, on this Han peninsula, cycles of rise and fall of nations were quite similar more than 2000 years. When a nation was built, the first and second king killed many people including their relatives and sometimes even own parents and children to settle down the nation. After that chaotic period, some good kings made some important achievements. However, there must be bad kings who enjoyed the prosperous time and ruined it eventually. Ancient people also knew that history is repeated so they considered history as an important source of studying and teaching. I don't think people can perfectly avoid doing same stupid things but we still have chance to make better decisions if we remember history and old things.
