In my opinion, true loyalty is always to be on same side. Not just to be on same side physically but also to be supportive in every aspects. I'm not sure what 'unconditional support' means in this question but I guess it means to show unconditional advocacy without criticizing. However I think true supports are not always consist of sweet and good words. If I truly support someone, I would want that person or group to be in a good status always. If the person or group asks my opinion on something and I think there is a possibility to do better, I would suggest something or criticize things. Some people think true loyalty is always to say good things or to agree with what he/she did. I think to be loyal truly to someone, we often have to say bitter things. There are many historical stories how kings didn't like loyal subjects saying bitter truth but those kings met bad endings eventually though. Unconditional support doesn't mean there are no bitter or harsh words at all.

Wow! I\'m amazed with how you see things.
I think the reason why the world is a messed up place is because we are often afraid to speak the truth.
We sometimes think of others\' feelings so we end up keeping silent.
In most cases, this is not good because instead of helping the person or the situations improve, they/it remain the same or stagnant.
One of my friends once said that, sometimes, you have to rock the boat to see those who are scared and those who are not.
I guess what she\'s trying to say is that, sometimes, we have to tell the truth to find out who is strong enough to take it and those who are not.
Anyhow, true loyalty is staying true to your advocacies with that person and not necessarily siding with that person at all times.
