I have been driving for about 32 years since I got my driver's license. The current driving test in Korea seems to become more difficult than the past when I had taken it because a road test was added. After getting a driver's license, people have to retake an aptitude test including a medical check-up every seven or ten years, which is not a driving test. If someone's age becomes more than 65, he or she has to retake the aptitude test every five years. The Korea Road Traffic Authority is dealing with anything concerning the driver's license and aptitude test with one of the most effective and quickest ways in the world. When I took the aptitude test a few years ago, it took only 30 minutes to finish all. If people have to retake a driving test every five years, one of the advantages would be that the heavy traffic in big cities can be improved because the number of people who want to get a driver's license will decrease. On top of that, frequent tests could make drivers keep on driving safely. Contrarily, one of the disadvantages of frequent tests would be that additional money, workers and time are needed.
