I think you got a little confused with VERB and ADVERB.
Please allow me to explain about it.
A VERB is an action word.
For example:
>> He JUMPED over the fence. (**The verb in this sentence is JUMPED. ^^)
On the other hand, an ADVERB is a word that describes an adjective or a verb.
For example:
>> She looked TOTALLY beautiful in that gown. (**The adverb in this sentence is TOTALLY and it describes the adjective, beautiful.)
>> He really loves her. (**The adverb in this sentence is REALLY and it describes the verb, loves.)
