Many elderly people are no longer looked after by their families but are out in care homes or nursing homes. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this trend?
There are many problems with the increase in the elderly population, not only in Korea but all over the world.
In my case, my father has severe dementia and lives in a nursing home.
Mother is also in poor health from old age, and my brothers are busy with their lives.
So we cannot take care of him around the clock.
Fortunately, my father receives a civil servant pension and spends all his expenses on it.
Those who do not have pensions have to take care of them in the state and the cost will be prohibitive.
