How can citizens influence their government if they disagree with a president’s policies?
학생이 쓴 원문
There are several ways that citizens can influence government. First, there is a pressure group. It is extremely difficult to confront authorities individually. Therefore, many people work unilaterally and form a pressure group. This organization can be based on everyone’s interest, profession and regions. By working as a group, it is easier to exert influence on government agencies through collective actions and make sure that authorities adopt policies that align with the group’s objective. Second option is through petition. Any citizens can file a petition to government. Even US petitions are the constitutional right where the First Amendment protects the right to ask any level of government to alter or fix policies. Petition can be done through direct advocacy so that you must write letters to your congress members to raise concern against specific legislation. Additionally, there is an official federal petition requiring 100,000 signatories and government reply within 60 days.
