How do you make a good first impression during an interview?

Despite time and effort, I put on the interview, I found out that the first impression is on appearance. People often say never to judge people by their appearance, but I learned from my previous experiences that it occasionally happens during interviews. Having a good appearance does not indicate having a nice appearance. It means that you need to be neat and tidy. Also, your clothing must align with the time, place and occasion. You need to have a shower prior to the interview, and it might sound discriminative, but you can expect more favorable result by having make-up on. Business attire is a must. I found it very awkward for financial service companies to ask candidates to wear suits which are quite expensive. However, I learned that having proper attire ready candidates for the interview and show what they can expect after entering the firms. Since appearance is the first things interviewers encounter, it is important to put effort into it.
