How to treat homeless people.

It is a common belief that the best way to help homeless people is donating some money directly to them because what they are in urgent need is the financial one out of a number of difficulties. It is undeniable that giving money to poor people helps them to carry on dealing with immediate problems and is the convenient way for individuals who feel sympathetic to the homeless. However, I firmly believe that poverty is a matter which should be resolved by a series of systematic approaches, aiming to make the poor to be self-help as well as not to be dependent on arbitrary donations from others. In short, giving the poor some money is a short-sighted policy though it has its own advantages. Rather, it is a better way to establish a charity organization, which provides the homeless a variety of self-help programs, and encourage people to contribute to it in order to help poor people in the long term. By doing so, it can satisfy needs of the poor and allow people to express their sympathy.

Giving money to the poor or the homeless is the most convenient way to do so, but in the long run, how would it impact them? I think there could be more downside to this act instead of really looking into the root cause and establishing a firm solution or foundation to really help them. ^ ^
