I believe narrative in game design plays a crucial role in bringing characters and world-building to life. Unlike other narratives, games use quests to allow players to directly engage with the narrative, enhancing immersion. A great example of this is Genshin Impact. Through main quests set in different nations, players interact with key characters, establishing the background stories and images of the regions and NPCs. Additionally, through regular sub-quests, less highlighted characters\' narratives are developed, with other characters making appropriate appearances, enriching players\' affection for the overall world and characters. As a result, despite not enforcing gacha mechanics, the game saw a significant increase in voluntary participation due to players\' affection for the characters, impacting its substantial revenue. Hence, meticulous narrative and game design that can generate players\' affection are crucial.
