1. Blow your top (Meaning: To lose your temper) When my father's face turns red, it means that he is about to blow his top. I also found the phrase which has same meaning. That is 'blow a gasket'. I don't know exactly 'the gasket'. but, it seems to me that it is used to cover the top of pipe. Finally, 'blow your top' and 'blow a gasket' is same. when I was young about 7 years before, I often see a angry person's head exploding with smoke in many animation movie. I believe that these words are originated from this action. 2. Hit the sack (Meaning: To go to bed) I was so sleepy so that I hit the sack early. But an assignment I haven't finished stuck with me, then I difficultly fell asleep.
