I think greeting\'s role is to relax tension between people. When we meet someone for the first time or even someone that we know, there is tension in the relationship. And greeting can make us reduce that tension and begin a conversation with a pleasant mood. For example, last week I was waiting for a bus and there was a woman at the bus stop whose age seems like my mom\'s age. We had an eye contact, but there was no greeting and smile. But while we were waiting for a bus, a sudden shower came and it was very pouring. I decided to share my umbrella and said, \"Hi\", and \"Let\'s share this umbrella.\" And then, she smiled and appreciated about that. Honestly, I was quite surprised because her poker-faced was scary for me to say hi, but after the greeting, we talked a lot and said goodbye with a smile when we got off the bus. Greeting is so fundamental that we can neglect its importance. But we are living together, so the greeting which makes us start a conversation more easily is essential.
