Since various graphic designers and animators who work in big international studios are Korean, there is no doubt about the quality of Korean-originated animations. However, there are still challenges regarding the contents and the language barriers. First, I believe famous animations come from the content that is widely accepted by global audiences while keeping originality to differentiate the animation from different countries. Japan is good at making animations that has shared topics while maintaining cultural identity. This characteristic led many people to come to Japan to experience the culture and boost tourism. Secondly there are language barriers. There are some quotes that cannot be overcome by descent translation. This is because that language difference is deeply rooted in the country’s history and culture and this make the global animation companies from English speaking nations. For Korea to boost its’ animation industry, it must overcome the above challenges.
