I think that traditional or alternative medicine could be used either when symptoms are light or you already reached the last stage so that there is nothing western medicine could do. For instance, when you catch a cold, the traditional treatment like eating chicken soup could help to alleviate and cure the symptoms. When you have your ankle sprained, acupuncture can greatly help you cure it. Oriental/Chinese medicine has been taking place of Western medicine in large parts with more scientific reasoning and results backed up. When the situation is hopeless, you might also try alternative medicine or treatment. There are lots of reports that quite a large number of terminal patients have been recovered fully through various alternative medicine/treatment. Some escaped to a remote countryside in deep backwoods from the crowed and polluted city and lived there and dined only natural foods, avoiding processed foods. However, it is dangerous if you rely too much on your own ways.
